Canvas of Calm

Canvas of Calm is all about how art can help moms relax, and begin a journey to less stress in daily motherhood life by getting in touch with what matters to us, not other people or society.

Expressive Arts

Expressive Art is also known as process art. It's not at all about the end result. We aren't concerned about what it looks like at the end of a session, because we aren't trying to be the next Salvador Dali or Frida Kahlo. We don't want our art in a gallery for all to see (although, wouldn't that be kinda cool?!). What we're looking for is the release of emotions while we're putting the crayon or paint to paper. Yep! You read that right, crayon. Process art is not anything fancy. It's ALL about the process of taking time and space to sit down and do a thing for ourselves. Ultimately, the goal is to find more peace in a crazy GO!GO!GO! mom life. I would love nothing more than to help you navigate through things like societal expectations, familial obligations, and big emotions from feeling isolated, stressed, and overwhelmed at a to-do list 3 miles long that never seems to shorten (despite all that you do everyday). Art can be a simple way to process all of these mom feelings without feeling more overwhelmed because it's, "another thing I have to do." And you can do it from the comfort of your own home in little time and whatever outfit you’re comfy in! No more finding a sitter you hope you can trust so you can drive across town to a smelly gym where you feel judged, either for "letting yourself go" or "being selfish for taking time for yourself."
